Terms, in plain language

This page is a summary and does not modify the binding licence that ships with the application. It exists because a $2 purchase from an independent developer is a trust transaction, and a wall of clauses is a poor way to earn trust.

02 / 03 · What you get

What a purchase buys.

A 7-day full trial, with no account and no payment method
Every production-ready provider and paid feature is available during it.
One provider free, permanently, after the trial
You choose which. Setup, the live meter, updates and purchase recovery remain available whether or not you ever pay.
A one-time $2 purchase, with no subscription
It permanently unlocks multiple providers, local history and activity lines, alerts, pace controls, and later paid features covered by the licence. There is no recurring charge of any kind.
$5 and $10 supporter purchases issue the identical entitlement
They are a voluntary contribution. They do not create support tiers or separate product variants, and they buy no additional entitlement or service level.
A signed offline entitlement
The entitlement is cryptographically signed and verified offline, stored in your Keychain. A licensing-service outage cannot deactivate a copy that was legitimately purchased.
Hosted Stripe Checkout
Payment happens on Stripe’s hosted checkout. This website never touches card data and has no payment form on it.
30-day refunds
See the refund policy. A refund can stop future purchase recovery; it does not reach into an already-activated copy.

03 / 03 · What it does not promise

The honest limits.

Dipstick reads services it does not control. A provider can change or withdraw the surface an adapter reads — one of them is explicitly a private endpoint that may change without notice — and when that happens the affected meters degrade until the adapter is updated. The software is provided as it is, without a warranty that any particular provider will keep working.

Dipstick is commercial software. Versions published before 28 July 2026 under the MIT Licence remain governed by the MIT Licence.

Dipstick is an independent, unofficial project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any provider it supports. Provider and product names identify compatible services; all trademarks belong to their respective owners.
